Transport map visualizes transportation routes from OpenStreetMap, including trains, subways, light rails, trams, and buses, using route relation data.
The map is designed based on openmaptiles/openmaptiles. The maplibre stylesheet is currently closed and will be released later.
The map complies with Public Transport V2 (PTv2) protocol. Route roles of “alternate”, “forward” and “backward” from PTv1 are not recognized.
In short, this map:
- visualizes OSM relations: route=train/subway/light_rail/tram/bus/trolleybus
- shows stations from lower zoom
- shows route ref and color
Next up we’ll describe each route type.
Train
Tint color: GRAY #898989
Train routes connect cities and towns via thick, dark gray lines that represent high passenger capacity and transportation significance. Stations are marked by circles with gray borders, accompanied by white text labels that feature gray halos for improved visibility.

Examples:
| Country | |
| RER B4 : Gare du Nord → Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse | FR |
| 2900: Enkhuizen – Maastricht | NL |
| Eurostar : Bruxelles → London | BE, GB |
Subway and light_rail
Tint color: Subway GREEN #028940
Subway and light rail lines share the same visual styling. Their stations appear as circles smaller than train stations, with white text labels surrounded by green halos. Route reference numbers adopt colors specified in each route’s “colour” field, with computed halo colors that adjust to maintain proper contrast.

Examples:
| Ref | City | |
| NYCS – 1 Train: Van Cortlandt Park–242nd Street → South Ferry | 1 | New York City US |
| Circle line: Hammersmith → Edgware Road | Circle | London UK |
Tram
Tint color: LIGHT BLUE #65BCE5
Tram routes follow similar styling principles but use thinner blue lines, with all text elements—station names, route references, and colors—scaled down proportionally from subway dimensions.

Examples:
| Ref | City | |
| Tram 5: Amstelveen Stadshart => Amsterdam Zoutkeetsgracht | 5 | Amsterdam, Amstelveen NL |
| 28E: Martim Moniz → Campo de Ourique (Prazeres) | 28E | Lisbon PT |
Bus
Tint color: BROWN #A86F6F
Bus routes appear as the thinnest lines and overlay all other transit routes. Bus stops are marked by small rectangles, and unlike subway and tram routes, their reference numbers use the tint color regardless of the route’s “colour” field value.

Examples:
| Ref | City | |
| 34 Virrei Amat => Pg. Manuel Girona | 34 | Barcelona ES |
| 風ぐるま 内神田ルート | 内神田ルート | Tokyo JP |
